Step 1: Rinse Off Debris
Start by rinsing your goggles under lukewarm running water to remove loose dirt, mud, or debris. Avoid hot water, as it may damage the lens coating.
Do not rub the lens at this stage to prevent scratching.
Step 2: Soak for Tough Mud
If mud is caked on, soak the goggles in a bowl of warm water with a small amount of mild, non-abrasive soap (e.g., dishwashing liquid or hand soap) for 10–15 minutes. This helps loosen hardened dirt.
Separate the lens, frame, and strap if possible for a thorough clean.
Step 3: Clean Gently
Lens: Use a clean microfiber cloth (like the one included with your goggles) to gently wipe the lens in a circular motion, starting from the center. Ensure the lens is still wet to avoid grinding dirt particles.
Frame: Use a soft toothbrush to clean vents and corners where mud may be stuck. Rinse thoroughly.
Strap: Rub the strap gently with your fingers or a soft cloth to remove dirt. Avoid harsh detergents that could degrade the material.
Step 4: Rinse and Dry
Rinse all components under lukewarm water to remove any soap residue.
Pat the lens dry with a clean microfiber cloth. Press the foam padding gently to remove excess water, and hang the frame and strap in a well-ventilated, shaded area to air dry. Avoid direct sunlight, which can damage the foam and lens.
Step 5: Store Properly
Once dry, reassemble your goggles and store them in the provided microfiber bag to protect the lens from scratches.
Important Tips:
Never use harsh chemicals (e.g., Windex, alcohol, or silicone-based cleaners), as they can damage the anti-fog coating or make the lens brittle.
Avoid wiping the lens with t-shirts, gloves, or paper towels, as these can cause scratches.
Regularly wash the microfiber bag to keep it clean for future use.
By following these steps, your Onium goggles will continue to provide exceptional clarity and protection on the track.
